My Organizational Effectiveness Philosophy
It is my view that organizational effectiveness is a three legged stool. The first leg is creation of an organizational culture or milieu. Without the organizational mindset of striving for continual improvement, mastering the tools and techniques of improvement is fruitless. The next leg of the stool is the tools and methods of improvement. There are tools associated with achieving quality objectives and exceeding requirements and there are tools associated with lean operations and the elimination of waste. Naturally these overlap to some extent. The last leg of the stool is recruiting and hiring the right people, developing them and then melding them with the work so that the organization has the right person doing the right job using the right method with the right materials, equipment and machines to produce ever improving outcomes throughout the organization all the time.
Consulting Specialties and Private Coaching
There are three particular areas of consulting strenth I think I have developed. They are:
Large Scale Oganization Change I have planned and managed several large organization change initiatives.
Teaching Statistical Thinking to Lay People Over the years I have become highly skilled at teaching people statistics. I have developed a number of approaches and exercises that have been shown to work.
Orgniazational Assessment I have visited and evaluated organizations of such variety that I have become expert at a quick analysis of strengths, weaknesses and can quickly prepapre an action plan for improvement that will work.
I have spent hours in one-on-one coaching sessions with CEOs, Board Memebers, Venture Capitalists and Senior Managers. The subjects have ranged from executive factors in large scale systems change, to improving understanding of the importance of statistical and scientific thinking. Things they have not learned in college or business school. More about this service here.
